COURSE DESCRIPTION
A detailed study of the purpose, structure, and theology of Matthew's gospel, with special emphasis on titles and teachings of Jesus, significant events in his life and the application of the gospel to the present time.
LEARNING RESULTS
This course is designed to assist the student to:
• Acquire a basic and clear knowledge of Matthew's gospel.
• Understand the historical background of Matthew's gospel.
• Identify major theological themes taught in Matthew's gospel.
• Recognize the uniqueness of the person of Jesus Christ, his deity and authority.
• Comprehend the distinctive nature of the Kingdom of God and its relationship to Christian ethics.
• Appreciate the supernatural power of Christ as revealed in the diversity of his miracles.
• Grasp the basic principles and challenge of discipleship.
• Think analytically, objectively and biblically regarding problems and issues in Christian theology and the Christian life.
• Cultivate biblical learning as a lifelong process and adventure for personal enrichment and spiritual maturation.

INTEGRATION OF FAITH AND LEARNING
The integration of faith and learning is readily apparent in this course as we are studying scripture directly. The theology of Matthew will be explored as well as the application and implication of this teaching to our lives. LEARNING DOCUMENTATION

Final Examination
There are 11 lessons and 1 examination for this course. LEARNING EVALUATION
Evaluation is based on a point system:
Learning Assignment #1 - #11 are 28 points each.
Final Exam is worth 77 points
Total points = 385
