BIB331E Pauline Epistles (3 credits) 9320
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Attention is given to the life, ministry, and writings of Paul. The doctrinal, pastoral, and personal epistles of Paul are studied with reference to their geographical and historical settings, the organization of the Apostolic Church and the development of Christian doctrine. Careful exegesis is made of selected portions of each epistle.
LEARNING RESULTS
1. That the student be able to utilize the tools of biblical and theological research in order to uncover more insight into the thought and ministry of the Apostle Paul.
2. That the student become more aware of and skillful in relating the life setting of Paul's epistles to their argument (the subject of a literary work); in short, recognizing the circumstantial nature of the Pauline correspondence.
3. That the student become more knowledgeable about the leading themes, ideas, and doctrines of Paul's Gospel.
