COURSE DESCRIPTION
Hebrew poetry and wisdom as presented in the books of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon.

LEARNING RESULTS
The learner will be able to:
• Define the term "Wisdom Literature" and summarize what thematic features characterize the Old Testament books in this literary genre.
• Study passages in the Old Testament Wisdom books according to the context of the literary features that characterize the genre of Wisdom Literature.
• Recognize important theological themes and issues characteristic of biblical Wisdom Literature.
• Develop a biblical approach to the theological problems of evil and human suffering.
• Apply wisdom themes to his or her Christian life.

INTEGRATION OF FAITH AND LEARNING
The integration of faith and learning is evidenced in this course through the required readings and the interaction of the student with those readings. Each reading informs the student about a specific area of importance relating to wisdom literature. The assignments call for interaction with this material, but also focus on applying wisdom principles (most often through personal journals) to the student's life.
