COURSE DESCRIPTION
The study of self-esteem listening, emotion, language nonverbal behavior, conflict, and ethics in interpersonal relationships.

LEARNING RESULTS
Through a variety of learning experiences, the learner will be able to:
1. Define and use a vocabulary of interpersonal communication terms.
2. Discuss major theoretical concepts in the field of interpersonal communication.
3. Analyze his or her role in interpersonal relationships in family, interracial/intercultural, friendship, and intimate contexts.
4. Apply both practical and theoretical knowledge to improve his or her interpersonal communication skills.
5. Evaluate the effectiveness of interpersonal relationships.
Improve the communication functioning in interpersonal relationships.

INTEGRATION OF FAITH AND LEARNING
The integration of faith and learning in this course occurs in several ways. Learning Experience #5 specifically addresses the role of faith in interpersonal communication. All other learning experiences provide opportunities to share and evaluate personal experiences where the role of faith may be examined.

LEARNING DOCUMENTATION
To determine if the course learning results have been attained, students document their learning by submitting the following items:
1. Submit a student introduction.
2. Post on Blackboard three responses to Units 1-7 and three responses to Units 8-14.
3. Conduct an interview with an effective communicator and submit preliminary questions and a final analysis. 4. Analyze the communication and relational characteristics and patterns found in a selected film and submit a paper.
5. Select outside readings from a course bibliography and submit a reflection paper that focuses on personal application of the content.
6. Post on Blackboard three responses to Units 15-22.
7. Conduct a mini-experiment and submit a paper on the process, results, and conclusions.
8. Write and submit a word picture and analysis.
