JUS100E Introduction to Criminal Justice (3 credits) 9624
COURSE DESCRIPTION
A survey of the organization, administration, and function of law enforcement, the courts, and corrections in an historical, legal, and contemporary context. Emphasis is placed on both offenses and offenders at each stage of the process.
LEARNING RESULTS
The learner will be able to:
1. To review the historical development of the various agencies which comprise the criminal justice system.
2. To explore the philosophical premises that underlie the American system of justice.
3. To assess the goals and functions of each separate component of the system.
4. To examine the ways in which the elements of the criminal justice system interact with offenders, victims, and the community.
5. To evaluate the structure and interworkings of the system of justice in light of the Christian faith.

Evaluation is on a point system:
Assignments 400 points (40 pts ea)
3 exams 225 points (75 pts ea)
3 field reports 375 points (125 pts ea)
