COURSE DESCRIPTION
A study of the development of Christianity across Europe from 1650 to the present. LEARNING RESULTS
1. Acquire a good chronological understanding;
2. Be able to analyze the major forces - political, economic, social, cultural, intellectual - which have significantly affected European Christianity;
3. Be familiar with some of the Christian leaders who have shaped the modern European Christian community and who have contributed to its periodic renewal;
4. Understand the most significant underlying theological and philosophical view points;
5. Appreciate the rich diversity of European Christianity including its cultural achievements;
6. Evaluate the interaction of the European and American churches;
7. Discuss reasons for the decline in Church involvement of many contemporary Europeans, and to look at the present and future challenges of the Church;
8. Ponder how the European Church and its experience and heritage has impacted on your own life.

INTEGRATION OF FAITH AND LEARNING
The integration of faith and learning is evidenced in this course through the required readings and the interaction of the student with those readings. Each reading informs the student about specific areas and passages relating to angelology. Assignment questions focus on seeing how the interpretation of one passage is important for interpreting others, and require students to sift through the readings to answer questions specific to the Learning Results. Throughout the learning experiences the student is required to think through biblical texts, the goal being to ground one's belief in angelic beings in Scripture as opposed to popular misconceptions so prevalent in today's new age spirituality. The assignments also focus on the bigger picture of God's overall plan for humanity and the assurance that the deity of Jesus Christ is not a New Testament invention. LEARNING DOCUMENTATION
