COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is an introduction to the strategy of expository preaching. This class will introduce such topics as the definition and methodology of expository preaching, finding and using the "big idea" of a text for a sermon, and sermon evaluation. The student will also have opportunity to write sermon outlines and manuscripts as well as preach at least one sermon.
NOTE: The student will need to have access to a video camera.

LEARNING RESULTS
The learner will be able to:
• Write out a concise definition of expository preaching in their own words
• Determine and write out the "Big Idea" of a sermon text
• Select a defined text upon which to base a sermon
• Produce a well structured sermon outline
• Produce a well structured sermon manuscript
• Evaluate three sermons they have heard using the form included with the learning agreement
• Preach and evaluate a sermon they have written

INTEGRATION OF FAITH AND LEARNING
Faith and learning are naturally integrated in this course on preaching. As the learner is introduced to the definition and method of expository preaching he/she will be considering their own faith and how God can use them as preachers to communicate His Word effectively.
