PHI452E Philosophy of Religion (3 credits) 9491
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is an inquiry into the meaning, nature, and problems of religious experience. Through the discussion of atheistic and religious writings, the course will attempt to retrace the religious phenomenon from a life-experience to an abstract theory from a Christian perspective.
LEARNING RESULTS
The purpose of this course is to:
• introduce the general areas of Philosophy of Religion;
• introduce the great ideas of Philosophy of Religion;
• introduce the great philosophers of Philosophy of Religion;
• demonstrate how current ideas result from philosophical thought;
• enable each student to think critically, correctly, clearly, and comprehensively about these ideas;
• demonstrate the necessity of solid thinking for religious (or non-religious) life.

INTEGRATION OF FAITH AND LEARNING
By reviewing the ideas of the great thinkers, the student will become familiar with the philosophical questions about religion or religious ideas. Comprehending the questions will enable the student to make intelligent judgments about the agnostic, atheistic, and religious replies that follow.

There are 10 lessons and 1 examination for this course.
LEARNING EVALUATION
Assignments 1 - 10 are worth 100 points each. The final exam is worth 300 points. The total points for the course is 1300.
