COURSE DESCRIPTION
A study of the nature, causes and treatment of maladaptive behavior with special consideration given to the symptoms and dynamics of psychological disorders.

LEARNING RESULTS
Students who pass PSY300 will be able to:
• Understand the historical background and research methods in abnormal psychology.
• Gain an understanding of the various pathologies and their classifications.
• Utilize the DSM-IV as a basic tool to classify and understand the symptoms of various mental disorders.
• Apply Biblical principles to the understanding and treatment of abnormal behavior.
• Utilize the internet to learn about organizations and resources.
• Think critically about the various approaches to the causes and treatments for abnormal psychology.
