COURSE DESCRIPTION
A course that assists the students in developing a critical understanding of the social problems which face our society today and a framework for analyzing problems which will arise in the future.

LEARNING RESULTS
1. To introduce the student to sociological theory and research as tools for understanding the origin of contemporary social problems.
2. To become aware of the incidence of social problems and how they affect various segments of the population.
3. To help the student develop critical thinking skills to understand how the social environment affects the lives of individuals.
4. To help the student to evaluate the effectiveness of current social policies and to propose reforms if necessary.
5. To encourage students to use their Christian faith as a foundation for analyzing and addressing social problems.
6. To prepare students to challenge schools, churches, businesses, families and governments to respond to the problems that hinder the optimal functioning of our society.
